Philippines: 2010 ASEAN Cultural Capital
The Philippines has been recognized as the ‘cultural capital’ of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for 2010 and 2011. As the first country given this distinction in the 10-member association of countries in the region, the Philippines hosted this year’s ministerial and experts meeting on culture and arts (AMCA-SOMCA) and the 4th ASEAN Festival of the Arts was held last March 22-26, 2010 at Clark Education City Amphitheater (the former Expo Filipino complex) and the Nayong Filipino, Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga.

On this day President Arroyo is scheduled to attend the ASEAN Festival of Arts in Clark Education City, however her husband was hospitalized and PGMA cancelled her trip to Pampanga.
