On our voyage from Bugo, Cagayan de Oro City to Kashima, Japan we passed the historic San Bernardino Strait. The strait separates Bicol Peninsula of Luzon Island and Samar Island. The view of the coast of Sorsogon province is so captivating and I did not pass the once in a year chance to take the photos of idyllic beauty of the coast of Sorsogon fronting the San Bernardino Strait.
The San Bernardino Strait separates the Bicol Peninsula of Luzon Island from the island of Samar in the south. The first reference to the Spanish and the San Bernardino Strait is during the 1543-1545 Ruy Gomez de Villalobos expedition.
Matnog is a third class municipality in the province of Sorsogon. It lies at the southernmost tip of the Bicol Peninsula of Luzon Island. The site of one of the busiest seaports in the Philippines, it is the jump off point to the southern Philippines and vice-versa.
