The caragan festival on its 3rd year aims to preserve the rich cultural heritage of the MabalaqueƱos. It could be recalled that Mabalacat was led by a chieftain named Caragan, an Ethnic Aeta. Most of the Aetas now are living in Barangays Calumpang and Marcos Village
Caragan is the late chieftain of the Aeta community in Mabalacat, then a forested hinterlands covered with Balacat trees. The former Aeta settlers had been forced to move in the mountains with the onset of modernization.
